Overcoming: Okay, I am going to use the word amazing a lot and you will see why. This is a short extract of a movie I have done with an amazing organisation called Mayday Trust who work with people that in life could so easily have been you or me or the man next to me.They do amazing work with some amazing people who are overcoming… all that life has thrown at them.I think they are all amazing..I’ll put the full version up soon. p.s did I say that they are amazing

Although I take a lot of Images for storyboarding on location and while on film shoot, I generally like to take the approach of slowing down, taking in the aroma’s, textures, sounds of where I am and appreciating the scene’s before me.Maybe it’s because i grew up with hipstomatics’s and film camera where you only had one shot, so i would wander around slowly taking in a scene before I pressed the button.I find this method helps me capture the story unfolding before me in more detail when I come to capture it in a movie.

These images are for a creative spot that is all about going slow, walking and not running, breathing and not choking.

Monday Morning Office,

I love early mornings, where the whole world is waking up, mist rising from the earth, the dawn chorus taking flight while the dew glistens at your feet and dances in the shimmering light. These are just a few quick shots taken on my phone so you probably can’t get a sense of what it is like, but i do wish you were here. My Job this morning was to film this drama played out in all it’s glory. And although i know that no camera will ever do it justice, the memory of being here for a few hours will stay with me, even if the shot only last 4 seconds on the main production…

I’m not sure how high this building is, but it is the highest one in the city.

We had been shooting since early morning all over the city in some pretty cool locations, but this one at the end of the day was my favorite.

To get here, it took filling out forms and then more forms (I hate paperwork), lugging up Tripods, dolly’s, camera’s, lenses and some tired bodies up a small ladder and through a small trapdoor at the top of the building.

All this for one shot that is going to be on the film for about 10 seconds. But all worth it for a killer shot.

And also I love being up high (mostly on mountains), but there was something peaceful about being above the noise and the din below, that made me breath deeper ,take some time and go slow for a few moments to appreciate life stuff before i headed back down into our hectic filming schedule.

This is my boy Noah, He is three and he loves nothing more than taking a leap into the unknown ,discovering something new and cool, because thats what he loves to do.

Why am I saying this, because I too love nothing more than doing what I love to do, which is telling stories and making films. Something that can only be done by jumping into the unknown and seeing where the story has brought me. So anytime I am afraid to jump first and fear later, I look at these picture’s and hundreds more just like it, of Noah doing something everyday that he hasn’t done before.

Well thats my first ever Blog and I am reminded of what someone once said, “If at first you don’t succeed, destroy the evidence” Looks like it is too late now as you will all have seen it and I’m glad.
